A small game studio that makes games with AI, on purpose, and calls them what they are.

Slop used to mean what went in the pig’s trough. Now it means what the machines make. We make games from it, and we finish them.

Etching of a large pig with its snout in the straw, three hens pecking beside it.

slop, noun. Kitchen scraps and swill, fed to pigs. Later, anything made in bulk without much care. Lately, whatever a machine made that nobody asked for.

We make songs too

Animated lyric videos about working in software, written and sung with AI. New ones land on YouTube first.

How a game gets made

  1. First we type a prompt.

One line, usually a joke somebody said out loud at lunch. That line is the whole design document.

A black Remington typewriter from 1907 on a wooden desk, a sheet of typed paper in it.

  2. Then the machine makes a mess.

Art, music, code and dialogue, generated in an afternoon. About a third of it works, which is plenty.

A wooden Jacquard loom with its chain of punched cards hanging beside thousands of threads.
A Jacquard loom reading its punched cards, 1800s.
  3. We keep the best mistakes.

A horse with seven legs is a bug anywhere else. Here it might be the game, so we play until we know.

Detail of an engraved proof from the 1600s with handwritten corrections pasted on and written beneath it.
    A printer’s proof with its corrections, 1600s.
  4. It ships when it’s fun.

We fix everything that is broken in a boring way, test it on people who did not make it, and put it out.

Pinball machines lined up in an ice cream shop in Los Angeles in the 1930s.

Hand-coloured engraving of the Turk: a figure in a turban seated behind a chess cabinet, its doors open to show gears.
The Turk, a chess machine that toured Europe from 1770 and beat almost everyone. A strong player sat inside it. Joseph Racknitz drew this in 1789 to show where.

Feed the trough

Ours has nobody inside. Type an idea and it pitches you a game, the way all of ours start. Same words, same game, every time.
